Spread the joy of the holiday season - someone decorated the trees in our local traffic circle.

Tasha

Hi little dog, no need to be scared of the camera.

No really, it's ok.

See?

Yep, that's her tail wagging so fast it's mostly a blur. Sometimes she does that when she's nervous.

Ok, so I wouldn't stress my dog out too much, but sometimes learning that 'scary' things aren't so bad is a good thing, if done gently. That said, it's interesting to point out that this series is actually a pretty classic example of a slightly anxious dog. I had the camera in one hand, away from my face, so you can see her looking at me rather than the camera (which is the slightly scary thing) and turning her head away from the camera itself a bit - this is most visible in the second photo. She is also licking her lips a bit in that photo, another anxiety behavior. The tail wagging and ears down are a bit of anxiety and submission rolled into one, I think. By the last pic however, you can see that the ears have popped up (there were two up, but I missed it) and she's starting to relax.

Wine and lavender

Wine from Provence, lavender from the traffic circle near our house (where both a blowup alien - eventually joined by his family - and a huge paper mache cow have been spotted within the last year).

This wasn't what I was going for, but I rather like it. All of the stuff relevant to my actual life is there in the background, but a little out of focus, like it's all still ongoing but on hold for just a second. Which is kind of how it was.

Dinnertime

Husband is still out of town, so I made dinner for one tonight. It was tasty.

Around the house

My husband is out of town for a week. This has inspired me to send him photos of things I'm doing around the house, so he can feel in touch.

I had some DELICIOUS coffee. Mmmm. Hawaiian coffee from Kauai.

And then I washed his Vibram Five Fingers, which really needed it. YOU'RE WELCOME, husband. Okay - not pictured: me washing all three of my pairs. These really are awesome shoes, even if they look funny.
