Whale Sunset Haiku

Now sunset cools us
Slowing rhythm, gentle ease
Later, morning's path.

# happy haiku thursday !
(also, hottest day on record in Seattle was yesterday - saw 104 on iphone).

Evening on the Waterfront

Woah, it's unusually hot in Seattle this week! Definitely hot for Seattle - it's actually supposed to hit 100 F today.

The waterfront downtown has a nice breeze and is a lot cooler than the rest of the immediate area. Just one more reason to love the ocean. It's also really pretty and peaceful in the sunset.

Seattle boats

Boats glowing in the sunset. What could be better, besides living on a boat yourself?

Gasworks Park, Summer Sunset

Gasworks Park can gather a lot of people in the summer, especially around sunset if the weather is nice. It's pretty cool -- all the people there to look at the beauty, maybe cuddle on a blanket, and spend some time together.

Car Show

Gotta love those old cars.

PS - think I figured out the problem with the colors in the photos after being uploaded to Picassa. I haven't fixed all the photos, but I did update some of them.

Wine Haiku Thursday

Welcome, sit down, and
have a taste of wine with me -
lovely afternoon.

# happy haiku thursday!

It's been a while since I've done one of these - both the haiku and the iphone photo.

Thunderstorm Brewing

Thunder rolled around the canyon
Drops of rain hit the dust
Didn't last long though - the sun came back.

Greetings from Bandelier

For whatever reason, I think this looks something like an old postcard. Viewing history (the ancient pueblo in the cliff face) through history (down the tunnel to an old black and white image).

Camping

See the stars, up there in the sky between the trees?
The trees lit gently by the fire?

Charming Waterfall

Far below and to my left was a river, rumbling along with rapids (Class IV), but to my right and level with the trail was this lovely little pool. Water dripped off the rock as it must have done for years and years, smoothing the rock wall and eroding little pockets in the stone. I was completely charmed.

Red, White, and Blue

Okay, so this is a bit late for the fourth of July. But these flags flying at the top of Aspen Mountain on July 5th were really pretty with the mountains in the background, almost like prayer flags.

Purple flowers

Purple flowers and sky.
It was raining earlier, and everything was gloomy. When I finally decided I should just go for something dark, the rain stopped and colors bounded out.

Tops of Mountains

The cloud drift across the sky, casting shadows.
The shadows reveal the tops of the mountains.

Another Sunset

Somehow the colors look far more vibrant in the originals of the last few photos, but still .. there are some mighty impressive skies around Aspen. And to think I almost didn't take the camera with me when I went back to the hotel tonight (which is when I saw this sunset, over the same golf pond as the previous sunset).
