From New Mexico

Had a very short trip to Los Alamos this week, so here's a bit of the landscape. Driving 2 hours a day, every day for 3 days, isn't that much but it's much more than I'm used to driving lately (I've put about 10K miles on my car in the last 2 years). I have to say, even with this pretty landscape, I found that much driving incredibly boring.

Seattle Spring Day

Amazing weather last weekend - the sun was shining, the weather was mild, Rainier came out to grace the view. Have to remember - it's not spring yet.

Empty. Full.

Tasty oysters. All gone, four times over. Oh yeah, that's how we roll at Shiro's. :)

Fresh Veg

Picked some things up from Pike Place Market on Saturday and -- ta da -- actually made dinner. And it was good.

Wine A Lot

This is the wine we bought at Cave B while we were there, very nice and very pretty all together like this. This morning, we also got the first wine club shipment. So perhaps a slight surplus for the moment, but it is well appreciated.

Brunch

So, what do you add or do to bacon to make it even tastier than normal? Just have really well cured bacon, or cure it with maple syrup or something? I have no idea, but this must have been an example of it. The eggs benedict were amazingly tasty too. I think this was actually my second plate of eggs bennie and bacon - it was *that good*.

(yes, still on the Cave B pictures).

Cave B Lodging

The main house is beautiful and is home to a few rooms, but most of the lodging at Cave B is out in either the cavern rooms (peeking out to their view across the gorge above) or in the cliffhouses (some of these are visible as the little houses you can see below). We stayed in the little cliffhouse you can just see the chimney of, below at the back on the far right.

Cave B Main House

Two views of the main house at night. The top one is from up on the vineyard side and the bottom one is from the gorge side (where most of the lodges are). My dog did not appreciate me standing around to take these photos, but I like them.

Cave B Inn

Wow, just spent an amazing weekend (too short! want to go back already! didn't want to leave!) at Cave B Inn and Winery.

The inn and winery are beautiful and the spa (went for the Vinotherapy Foot Treatment) was the perfect way to start relaxing. The restaurant was equally amazing ... a little plate of ravioli was like heaven and the Sunday brunch was oh-so-tasty.

It was a lovely little place to stay and we'll definitely be back. More photos to come :)
